2011-2012
Dove Season and Outlook
Dove - (South Zone) The opening day of the dove season this fall has yet to be announced. The TPW is blaming it on the Feds. They anticipate an announcement on or about June 1, 2011. I will be letting everyone know as soon as I find out. The two possibilities are for it to either open on September 16 or the 23rd. As everyone knows most of Texas is in a severe drought. We are no exception. I am not too concerned about the doves as there will be sufficient native sunflowers and croton that is very drought tolerant making seeds regardless. The hunting in dry years has been surprisingly good in years past. It also makes for the pond hunting to fare quite well too. I am also building two new bunkhouses for 2011. They will sleep 8 per house and be located at my main headquarters. Will be adding pictures to the site once completed probably by June. |
